Bobby Robson
Apparently Bobby Robson is losing his fight against cancer, which is very sad. A few years ago, I read in an old programme that Bobby Robson had come close to signing for Lincoln during the late 1950's but Fulham hijacked the transfer at the last minute.

That story is in that almost unreadable book by Brian Halford - can't remember the title off the top of my head. I think you've got the whole thing the wrong way round though, I'm sure it was Bill Anderson who tried to cut in ahead of the bigger clubs (inc. Fulham) by turning up at the Robson family home in Langley Park, Co Durham (Bobby was still in his mid-teens). Could be wrong though. I read in the paper yesterday that doctors have given him only a matter of months. Very sad.

"Past Imperfect" is the book, I think. I quite enjoyed it, actually.

However, I distinctly remember reading another version in an old programme. I've so many old LCFC programmes that I haven't got a hope of finding it again but I think it was one from the 83/84 season's programmes.

Which narrows it down to 23 or so (depending upon cup matches). So get looking!
