I must admit that I'm finding this course of action a little excessive but if it shocks them into sorting something out at Don Valley then it'll serve a purpose.
Lessons will have been learnt and they'll be more prepared for it next time. It's just a pity that those lessons will have been learnt at our expense but you'd think that our fans were subjected to slavery like conditions the way that same people are talking.

This is not excessive in the sligh-*test*-('"). These people have gotten away with murder and are trying to do it yet again. Its you who may be little too young or lenient, not us being draconian pete.

It's not excessive at all, is it? The investigation needs to happen. I haven't got a clue what I was thinking with that first post but I had the idea in my head that there was a mention of a possible further points reduction for R'ham in that article but there isn't.
This could well be me but seeing as you were outside as well, are you finding some of the stories that are being told to be exaggerated? I was reading about one guy who claimed to have began queuing at 2:45 and didn't get in the ground until after 20 minutes had gone in the first half.

Is that statement perhaps a little bit of an exaggeration?
However annoyed we all are about the Rotherham situation and Don Valley can we really equate it to Murder?

I wish that having no cover and paying £18 for a very poor view of the game were grounds for complaint, but we're only football supporters so no scope there. Other than that I didn't really have any great problems - in fact my lad got in for free when I was expecting to pay £5 for him. I can -*test*-('")ify though that having started queuing at 2:45 we got in just as the game kicked off and there were easily a couple of hundred Imps behind us, and that two old chaps came and sat in front of us at 3:15 having only just got in.
I'm amused by that Rotherham supporter on Vitals who's claiming that anyone arriving at the ground any later than 2:20 have only themselves to blame for being so late
wise_monkey- 08-12-2008
It was their first league game and they obviously need to organise their turnstile procedures better.
I paid £20 to get into the Upper section and then ended up sitting in the lower. They should not have a differential in the price because thre is no control over where you sit when you are in the ground.
They need to make sure they have the correct number of turnstiles open and hopefully they will learn from this.
There is obviously an Issue with the safety on the walkways if it gets wet as there was at least one other person who fell over at the same time as the guy who hurt his chin. They must address this and I can understand people getting annoyed about that.
Apart from that I thought it was frankly OK. There were always likely to be teething problems
The toilet facilities aren't great but good enough and I didn't have to queue so long for a drink at half time.
The view also isn't great but thats life.
I have had far far far worse experiences at football grounds admittedly most going back 10, 20 + years ago.
I am only speaking for myself but for me my only complaint was the quality of the football.

We joined the queue at 3pm. There was a bloke we knew ahead of us who had been there since 2:45pm. He got in about 3-5 mins before us and we got in at 3:15-3:20pm. So he was there from 2:45pm and got in at about 3:10pm.
TBH I think that Underhill's a better ground than DVS.
Simjon- 08-12-2008
There were always going to be teething problems, I think if there are still issues in a month or 2 the authorities should intervene but we were just unlucky we were the first visitors.

Sorry I think there's a typo in the last bit of your sentence:
"but we were just unlucky we were visitors"
There, that's better. ;)
Art Vandelay- 08-12-2008
Or "we were lucky we were just visiting".
Unlucky Millers having to go there all season.
nottinghamimp- 08-12-2008
ok I will make it clear. They have gotten away with murder, likely the murder of the next club who ask the HMRC for some time, as they will get zero.
The ground is shite, the stewards are shite. Teething problems my arse, if you want to be a professional club then you sort this type of thing before the season starts. You do not use the league as a pilot study. They are well out of order and any of our lot who thinks its ok is sadly mistaken.
wise_monkey- 08-12-2008

Sure they have spent more than they should and have been punished for that.
But hey, the government has uncontrollable debt, the banks are all bankrupt and huge numbers of people in the country will go bankrupt in the next few years. Its a malaise that spreads further than football.
There were problems on Saturday.
It was there first league game there. They don't want to be there and they don't have full control over a lot of what goes on there.
There have been some complaints quite rightly but a lot of what I have heard is quite pathetic and using language like getting away with murder is idiotic.

maybe you need to lose the wise in your name chap. They have shafted the HMRC, meaning the HMRC will not give any other club to follow this course of action. They will likely say pay in full now or its liquidation for you. The FL have colluded in this and as such they will have little credibilty with HMRC either.
As for saturday, I just don't care about teething problems, as I have said the FL is not a pilot study. Were you actually there ?
