I am sure we had to clear all new signings with the FL during the first season after administration.
Just think if we needed to win at Rotherham to stay in the league. Ouch! It's cheating, simple as that.
It seriously is a very messy business. Tell you what, though, it makes me feel very happy with our current Board and especially the efforts of a certain Rob Bradley!
Do I detect a change there, Posh? I know that in the past you have been very critical of Mr Wright. I too am grateful that he did not heed the calls for those to splash the cash.
Seems his judgement has been vindicated. He appears to be backing PJ - perhaps a manager he really believes in.
As you know I've been quite defensive of Schoey at times but the chairman's decision to ward him three years looks an odd decision with hindsight. I'll allow the chairman that mistake as despite some folks wishing to believe we had to "pay off" the full contract, it probably didn't cost us too dearly. He took his time but he got it right eventually, I'm glad enough supporters had some patience.
Well spotted my friend!!
I am happy to admit that my opinion of Stef Wright has altered for the better, as far as he is concerned. He has now shown how shrewd he can be and also that financial stability has to be the number one priority.
Well done to him and his fellow directors.

Well, actually, I have been thinking more positively of SW for some time - i.e. when he and the board removed 2Js from office, but better still, moved Peter (former Huddersfield Town manager!) Jackson into office! It is also apparent that funds have been made available and, one assumes, will continue to be made available without detriment to the club as a whole.
Sound business sense there!

Following on from all this...
no doubt some clown will soon be accusing me of being 'in the Board's pocket' and running this fine message board as their so-called 'puppet'!

I had heard a rumour that that did happen once ...

Which, though rejected by the majority of the creditors (not just the HMRC), does at least ensure that some of the debt gets repaid.
Which I think was just 1p in the £ - reducing a debt of £1.5million to effectively just £15k. This means the FL is effectively imposing a CVA on creditors.
5p in the pound, apparently the previous CVA was 1p in the pound. The CVA was not (contrary to claims) because the HRMC* & Booth rejected it, it was rejected by the vast majority of (unsecured) creditors (see the League letter).
Incidentally Luton's failed CVA was 16p in the pound.
* There is a valid argument though that by requiring clubs to pay their football creditors in full that clubs won't be able to come out of admin via a CVA as the HMRC will vote against in principle. However, if clubs pay the HMRC and don't let them have such a deal-breaking share, this wouldn't be an issue. As I've said before I can't understand getting them on the bad side of you.

I'm sick of all the sympathy being offered in Luton's (and probably now Rotherham's) direction, mainly from the national media and supporters of clubs further up the league ladder. There's a piece in the la-*test*-('") WSC about it and I'm tired of the cliched line about the blame lying with the 'previous regime', and even losing my sympathy for the 'innocent' fans who have 'lost out' (they presumably didn't celebrate any promotion their clubs achieved? )
So I'm really pleased with the reaction on this thread. The most important question remains - how exactly is it fair on prudently run clubs if the Lutons and Rotherhams of this world receive negligible points deductions? As others have said, their approach is cheating to all intents and purposes.
As for the fourth division being devalued because the relegation places are sewn up, who cares? Stop being so negative, the rest of us are aiming for promotion :D .

Good post GOBC.
...And don't write Rotherham off from challenging for the play offs either. I think they are fortunate to only lose 17 points and be able to play at all.

obviously he does not think the punishment is too harsh then..

The new Chairman (of "New Co.", a completely made-up entity to get around having to settle Rotherham's debts, it seems to me) is already aiming for the Championship in 4 years with a brand new stadium.

So they can't pay the creditors BUT they have the funds to build a brand new stadium... if this is allowed its totally stupid

Actually it's the council building the stadium - for use by the community, apparently.

Aye, but to use nottingham's argument: they have the funds for two promotions in four years, but can't pay their creditors. This is totally stupid.
You know, I was tempted to write an Impnet-stylee piece entitled "The long, long football con" in the form of an episode of Hustle. Seemed too much ike hard work in the end, but you get my drift.

Yes, that's a criticism I have. It would be interesting to compare wage bills between the last couple of seasons (where they had the extra cost of the Booth rent) and this season.

That's why Impnet lapsed into nothingness.
