Old Imps Never Die They just end up in the Unibond.
Went to see Trafford FC v FC Halifax Town, who have been formed out of the wreckage of last year's Conference team and re-surfaced in Unibond One North.
It was a cracking game which Halifax won 2-1. Playing for The Shaymen was Justin Walker, formerly of this parish. Although a little weightier than in his days with us he still looked a decent player. Nigel Jemson, who had a few pre-season games for us a few years ago, came on as sub and scored Fax's second goal. The programme also listed their sub keeper as Craig Mawson and stated we were one of his former clubs. Can't say I remember him at all.
Decent travelling support for The Shaymen.

Good luck to Halifax, they're ghaving to do it the hard (and arguably the proper) way.

Did Justin still have great hair?

I thought all of the old Imps followed Bit KA around?
A friend of mine interviewed Nicky Eaden last week for the Birmingham Match Day programme. Eaden's now at Kettring and he told him that the standard of football at that level is a great deal worse than it is here.
Eaden also said he's on the verge of packing it all in as his knees have gone but if you speak to Forest fans or us we'd tell you that his knees went ages ago.

Mawson was here during Marriott's first full season. Phil Stant wanted to sign an experienced keeper but there was no cash so had to make do with a series of loan signings to cover Marriott: James Lindley, Mawson and the rather unsavoury Matthew Ghent.

Ah Matthew Ghent. I still remember that goal he conceded against Dagenham which rolled through his legs, moments after he was named MOM. In those days, Dagenham beating us was seen as a cup upset...

There are profiles of both Lindley and Mawson (even a photo of Mawson) here to jog the memory.
