This Rotherham 200 quid
maybe we should have sent it to one of their local creditors in dire need.. Club Receives Millers Apology Posted on: Thu 14 Aug 2008 Rotherham United will be making a donation to a charity of our choice to compensate for the errors that occurred on the turnstiles at the Don Valley Stadium last Saturday. Problems at the turnstiles not only meant that a number of our supporters were forced to miss the kick-off, some arriving inside the stadium midway into the first half, but some elected to pay more than the advertised price for the season opener, due to a lack of change at the turnstiles. Having contacted both Rotherham United and The Football League to express our concern regarding these matters, we have received the following response from Paul Douglas, the Millers' Chief Operating Officer: "We wish to offer our sincere apologies to those people concerned and assure them that this was purely down to our operating a new pricing system at a new stadium and not having the luxury of having offices, safes, etc on site to sort these types of problems out more quickly, as we would were Don Valley our own stadium. "We do not wish to profit from our own errors and as a gesture of goodwill to your supporters I will forward a cheque for £200 to go to a charity of your choice, which will cover the overpayments. "Finally we wish to assure yourselves and your supporters that the lessons of Saturday have been learned. We are proud of our record in looking after visiting supporters and hope that this incident will not have a lasting effect." The Club have decided that Rotherham's donation will go to local charity Children's Links and Chief Executive Dave Roberts was happy with the Millers's response. "Having experienced the problems at the game myself, and receiving feedback from several supporters, I took up the issue with Rotherham," he said. "I was impressed with how serious they took the events and I believe they have dealt with the issues in a positive manner following meetings with officials at Don Valley Stadium and South Yorkshire Police."

I thought a similar thing. I wondered what one or other of the creditors might have made of it!
