It tells you everything when I have more quality time at home doing a Monday to Friday 9-5 with 24 days holiday than I ever did as a teacher. I was a teacher for 8 years and quit after being a head of faculty. The problem is the better you are as a teacher, the quicker they move you up the pay spines and responsibility which takes up a dispropotionate amount of your free time and speeds you on your way to either burning out or becoming sloppy and bitter. You can do a minimum and keep more of your free time available but we all know that the teachers who do that are the ones you have little respsect for and provide a sub standard level of education to the students. To be good you have to put in the extra time, that is the bottom line.
