Anyone heard of this bloke who claims to have been a centre forward for LCFC. AS he's 44 it would have been in the 80s and I certainly can't recall him.

He certainly never played for the first team and cannot recall any reserve team appearances but I'm 99% sure he was a very prolific scorer for Metheringham in the Sunday League! In the good old days of a proper Sports Echo he was always mentioned as he came back from abroad once the holiday season had finished and played in the Sunday League during the winter months before returning abroad in the spring.

You might be right with the Metheringham connection! My mum remembers the name of a kid with that surname who went to Metheringham school, he was greek and his dad opened a bar on the turtle island. I wonder if he said to the reporter I played footy in Lincoln (meaning for Metheringham) and the reporter used his journo skills to make it more interesting!

I played (football) with him for several years. I think some journalistic licence has been used.
